Oxagen wants patients with asthma to be able to breathe new life. The privately-held biopharmaceutical company is developing a pipeline of drug candidates through human genetic research to treat inflammatory and respiratory diseases. Its lead anti-asthma and allergy candidate has undergone Phase II clinical trials that have demonstrated suitability for once-a-day oral consumption by patients. The company intends to eventually seek collaborations and licensing deals with other pharmaceutical companies to commercialize its products. Oxagen was originally spun out of the Wellcome Trust Centre for Human Genomics at the University of Oxford in 1997.
