Hess Limited is not limited to the exploitation of crude oil. The company is a crude oil and natural gas exploration and production company. Hess primarily operates on the UK continental shelf, where it is a major producer of oil and gas in the traditional North Sea oil patches and also in the Atlantic to the west of the Shetland Islands. Hess Limited is a subsidiary of US-based Hess Corporation. To improve its operating margins, Hess has put some of its North Sea fields up for sale following oil and gas tax increases made by the UK government.
