Castle Cement has lowered the drawbridge and stormed the building materials market in the UK. The company sells about 3 million tons of cement annually, supplying around a quarter of the UK demand. The company sells to the building and construction industries from its plants in Ketton (in Rutland), Ribblesdale (in Lancashire), and Padeswood (in North Wales). Castle Cement also owns clay, limestone, and shale quarries, which are used in the production of clinker. Other products include lightweight aggregate for insulation and the Snowcem range of render and finishes. Castle Cement is a subsidiary of Germany-based cement giant HeidelbergCement.
