Sometimes it's OK to think inside the box; Advanced Composites Structures (formerly AeroBox) has been doing just that and hopes to turn its kind of thinking into cash. The company manufactures shipping containers used on cargo flights; it has several products either in use or in trials by airlines. ACS touts its composite-material containers as more durable and less expensive to repair than aluminum containers. The company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in 2007 under the AeroBox name and emerged the following year as Advanced Composites Structures. That name had been the name of its subsidiary, which maintains manufacturing operations in New Mexico.
