Syneron Medical has directions to the fountain of youth. The company makes and markets laser-based medical devices designed to rejuvenate human skin, reduce wrinkles, and treat vascular and pigmented lesions as well as acne and cellulite. Syneron also manufactures products used to remove unwanted body hair. Operating in the cosmetic surgery or "aesthetic medical treatment" space, Syneron markets its products directly to doctors and other health practitioners globally. The company's products combine optical energy derived from light waves with electrical energy and use specially designed software. Syneron announced it will acquire rival aesthetic-device maker Candela in a deal worth about $65 million.
