Don't take that tone with Mtone -- the company just wants to offer Chinese mobile phone users a little fun. Mtone Wireless is a provider of mobile wireless entertainment content and services (including instant messaging, ring tones, greetings, pictures, games, and entertainment and sports information) to monthly and pay-per-use subscribers. Founded in Santa Clara, California, Mtone now conducts all of its business in China. The company began in 1994. Mtone filed an IPO in 2004, only to withdraw the offering, citing deteriorating market conditions.
