The site is part of Various's FriendFinder network, which includes 25 multicultural and multilingual dating and social networking sites, and has a membership of more than 260 million users (about 1.2 million of which are paying subscribers). The company was founded in 1996 by Andrew Conru. Various acquired Spring Street Networks, now FastCupid, in 2005. The company itself was acquired by Penthouse in 2007.
