OSA Technologies markets firmware, the operating system software that goes into embedded devices, and applications for managing Linux and Windows servers, using such industry standards as Simple Object Access Protocol and Intelligent Platform Management Interface. The company was founded in 2000 by former Intel employees, under the name of Open Source Asia (OSA), and has R&D centers in China and Taiwan. OSA Technologies received more than $19 million in private funding, with investors including Dell and Intel Capital. Avocent in 2004 acquired OSA for about $100 million in cash and stock.
