The Craft & Hobby Association (CHA) has been a model association since its beginning. The organization was founded in 1940 as the Model Industry Association and currently consists of about 5,500 member companies involved in the manufacturing, distribution, and sale of craft and hobby products. Formerly known as Hobby Industry Association, in 2004 the organization joined with the Association of Crafts & Creative Industries (ACCI) to form CHA. Together they conduct consumer research, put on industry trade fairs, host elementary school craft projects, and publish newsletters and other materials for members. Its members also receive discounts on shipping and related services.
