Piedmont Federal Savings Bank (formerly Piedmont Federal Savings and Loan Association) provides checking and savings accounts, money market accounts, IRAs, loans, and other standard products and services through from about five branches in north-central North Carolina. Single- to four-family residential mortgages account for virtually all of the bank's loan portfolio, which also includes multifamily real estate loans, commercial mortgages, and consumer loans. Piedmont Federal was organized in 1903 by a small group of local businessmen and has been led by the Mitchell family since 1911.
