The company has distribution agreements with such companies as Amersham Biosciences (now part of GE Healthcare Bio-Sciences). Applied Precision was incorporated in 1985 by engineers working in electronics, mechanics, and physics. CEO Ron Seubert was one of the three co-founders. The company went through a recapitalization in 2002, with Riverside Partners taking a minority equity stake. In 2007 the company sold its semiconductor division to Rudolph Technologies.
