Liz Claiborne is dressed for success as a leading US seller of clothes and accessories for women. It markets its products as designer items but prices them for a broader market. Its brands -- including Liz & Co., Concepts by Claiborne, kate spade, Juicy Couture, and Lucky -- are sold worldwide in department stores, in more than 440 specialty stores, in about 365 outlets, and among numerous brand Web sites. Liz Claiborne also makes men's clothing and licenses its name for shoes, sunglasses, swimwear, formalwear, home furnishings, and stationery. Amid the downturn in the economy and department store sales, the firm has been restructuring and in 2009 hired a turnaround specialist to fix its ailing business.
