Quidel quickly susses out disease. The company makes rapid testing products used at the point-of-care (POC), usually at a doctor's office or a hospital bedside. Unlike other in vitro tests, POC tests can be read on the spot and don't have to be sent off to a clinical laboratory. Quidel's leading products are diagnostics for infectious diseases (such as influenza and strep throat) and reproductive health, including pregnancy tests. The company also makes diagnostics for mononucleosis, chlamydia, osteoporosis, and the ulcer-causing H. pylori bacterium. A direct sales force and a distributor network sell Quidel's tests to doctors, labs, hospitals, and consumers worldwide.
