Electro Scientific Industries (ESI) and its subsidiaries use science -- and a lot of engineering -- to help its customers produce electronics on an industrial, high-volume scale. The company's manufacturing and test equipment is used to make and inspect electronic components in automotive electronics, PCs, and wireless communications gear. Its offerings include yield improvement systems, circuit fine-tuning equipment, and miniature capacitor test products. ESI also makes electronic packaging equipment, as well as machine vision systems to inspect and verify chip and circuit board quality. ESI's customers include Canon, Hynix Semiconductor, Kulicke and Soffa, Kyocera, Samsung Electronics, and STMicroelectronics.
