Acadian Ambulance Service provides ground and air medical transportation service for some 3 million residents in the southeastern US, including portions of Louisiana, Mississippi, and Texas. Acadian Ambulance Service operates more than 250 ground ambulances, as well as a handful of helicopter ambulances operated by affiliate Metro Aviation. It also provides telemedicine (remote patient monitoring) and paramedic training services. Through subsidiary Executive Aircraft, the firm offers chartered transportation services. Its Safety Management Systems unit provides emergency medical services to offshore oil projects. Established in 1971, the company is owned by its employees through a private stock option plan.
