First Act wants to get lots of bang for its buck. First Act makes guitars, drums, and related accessories (microphones, music stands, pedals, strings, straps), as well as band and orchestral instruments. The company's products, which are sold through mass merchandisers (Wal-Mart and Target), specialty retailers (Toys R Us), and club channels nationwide, are designed primarily for children, beginners, and school music programs. The company's Global Design Studio makes handmade and one-of-a-kind instruments for professional musicians. It launched its Little First Act Discovery line of musical learning toys, geared toward infants and toddlers age 0 to 3, in late 2008.
