IatroQuest is biosensing a big change. The company's Bio-Alloy platform uses advanced semiconductor materials, biotechnology, nanotechnology, and photonics for a completely novel system of identifying biological and chemical compounds. Customers currently use it in biodefense applications and environmental monitoring; the company is developing a real-time application for sensing bio-warfare agents, akin to a smoke detector for bioterrorism. IatroQuest was spun off from Canadian National Research Council in 1998 and has received funding from institutional investors such as Business Development Bank of Canada, Investissment Desjardins, Fonds de solidarite FTQ, and In-Q-Tel.
