The bankrupt company owns and operates Carefree Resort & Villas, a luxury hotel and resort located in the Sonoron Desert in Carefree, Arizona (near Scottsdale). The property offers about 370 deluxe resort rooms, including cottage-style suites and residential-style villas available for long term vacation rentals. Carefree Resort offers golf and spa packages, and has an association with nearby Legend Trail Golf Club. The property is managed by West Paces Hotel Group, a company founded by former Ritz-Carlton head Horst Schulze. The company is owned by private real estate firm Tiburon Capital. Carefree filed for Chapter 11 in 2008.
