The company primarily distributes prepaid phone card products online and through a network of distributors that reaches about 100,000 retail locations. The prepaid calling cards are used for domestic and international long-distance, as well as local calls, and can be used to call virtually any country. 9278 Communications boasts about 1.5 million users. The company was founded in 1997 as Aquasol, but changed its name to 9278 Communications in 1999. It has grown through periodic acquisitions, including the 2003 purchase of NTSE Holding (a private firm owned by 9278 CEO Sajid Kapadia) which resulted in the company going private.
