Global Energy Development focuses on energy development in South America. The exploration and production company is active in Colombia and Peru, where it has received six contracts and rights to explore for or produce oil and gas. Global Energy Development holds a more than 1.4 million acre portfolio in Latin America and in 2011 reported proved and probable reserves of 147.1 million barrels of oil equivalent. Its core operations are in Colombia, where it has been involved workover and drilling development activities in five fields. It is also active in northeastern Peru. The company was operating in the Garachine field in Panama, but exited this in 2010 in order to focus on its core properties.
