One of its most popular products is its sofa priced under $300. American Furniture Manufacturing operates by having stock on hand and can ship most furniture within 48 hours. The company sources some fabrics from China, which has also helped to keep down costs. An investor group led by Hampshire Equity Partners and Hunt Private Equity Group, and including the company's senior management, purchased American Furniture Manufacturing in 2004. The company was purchased in August 2007 by Compass Diversified Trust, or CODI.
