Oil and natural gas exploration and production company Sterling Energy is looking for sterling results from its operations in Africa (Cameroon, Gabon, Madagascar, and Mauritania) and the Middle East (Kurdistan). Sterling Energy has proved and probable reserves of more than 21.3 million barrels of oil equivalent. In 2009 the company sold its interests in several producing gas fields in the Gulf of Mexico (where it also served as the operator for most of its projects) for $90 million, in order to focus on new opportunities on the African continent.
