Cambrex has slimmed down because it wants to focus on its health and yours. The company's lone operating unit develops products for the human health care market that include active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) and intermediates for over-the-counter and prescription drugs. It also makes intermediates used in cosmetics and food additives. Cambrex focuses on developing drug delivery technologies and the manufacture of high-potency compounds and controlled substances. It maintains manufacturing and R&D facilities in Italy, Sweden, and the US. In 2007 the company significantly pared down its operations with the sale of two divisions to French specialty chemicals maker Lonza.
