TOTAL does it all. One of the world's largest integrated oil companies, it explores for, develops, and produces crude oil and natural gas; refines and markets oil; and trades and transports both crude and finished products. Operating in more than 130 countries, the company has reserves of 10.5 billion barrels of oil equivalent. It has interests in 25 refineries (and directly operates 12) and about 16,000 gas stations, primarily under the TOTAL and Elf brands, mostly in Europe and Africa. TOTAL's chemical units produce petrochemicals, monomers, polymers, and specialty chemicals such as adhesives, inks, paints, resins, and rubbers. It also has interests in LNG production, coal mining, and power generation.
