Regeneron isn't the Pentagon, but the company is fighting some serious enemies. Regeneron Pharmaceuticals develops protein-based drugs used to battle a variety of diseases and conditions, including cancer, inflammatory ailments, and eye diseases. The biotechnology company's ARCALYST treatment for rare inflammatory diseases, including Muckle-Wells Syndrome, was approved by the FDA in 2008. Regeneron is also collaborating with Sanofi-Aventis to develop candidate VEGF Trap as a possible treatment for tumors, and it is developing VEGF Trap Eye formulation (VEGF Trap-Eye) with Bayer Healthcare for treatment of eye diseases using intraocular delivery.
