The builder, the Baker, the blueprint maker. Michael Baker Corporation, a top US engineering and construction consulting firm, divides its operations into two main businesses: engineering and energy. It offers engineering design for civil infrastructure and transportation projects, operations and maintenance services for power generation and oil and gas production plants, and construction management for building and highway projects. The firm also provides architectural and environmental services. Projects range from offshore production platforms to skyscrapers. The company is selling its energy services business, which accounts for more than a third of sales, to John Wood Group for nearly $40 million in cash.
