The operating arm of residential real estate leader Apartment Investment and Management Company (AIMCO) is laser-focused on apartment complexes, which it owns, manages, and redevelops. The company owns or manages some 1,000 garden style, mid-rise, and high-rise apartment communities with more than 160,000 units located throughout the US and in Puerto Rico. The company divides its operations into "conventional" and "affordable" operations (the latter are often subsidized by government agencies). AIMCO controls about 90% of AIMCO Properties.
