Is everyone on Friendster connected to Kevin Bacon? Friendster hosts social networks of friends through Friendster.com. Members create profiles on Friendster.com through which they can trade messages, view each other's tastes and preferences, and write testimonials about friends. It also features a blogging service powered by software from Six Apart. Friendster has about 70 million members. Founded in 2002 by Jonathan Abrams, Friendster received considerable buzz in its first year, but the hype has since fizzled as a result of strong competition. Investors include Kleiner Perkins and Internet heavyweights such as former Yahoo! CEO Tim Koogle, former PayPal CEO Peter Thiel, and former Amazon.com VP Ram Shriram.
