Life is a cabaret for Air Berlin. The low-fare carrier, which ranks behind only Lufthansa among German airlines, transports passengers to about 20 cities in its home country, plus about 115 destinations elsewhere in Europe and in northern Africa. Air Berlin also has code-sharing agreements with Russia's S7 Airlines, China's Hainan Airlines, and Austria's NIKI to fly to Moscow, Beijing, and Vienna. (Code-sharing allows airlines to sell tickets on each other's flights and offer more destinations.) Europe's third-largest airline operates a fleet of more than 135 aircraft, mainly Boeing 737s and Airbus A320s, from hubs in Berlin, Düsseldorf, and the Spanish island of Majorca.
