Alara makes the DenOptix dental imaging system, which uses reusable imaging media to replace film. In addition to creating dental x-rays, other applications for the technology include medical computed radiography products (CRystalView) and osteoporosis bone density scanning equipment (MetriScan). The company also manufactures filmless x-rays systems for security applications under the T100 brand. Customers include hospitals, doctor and dentist offices, and specialty medical clinics. Alara was founded in 1994 and originally called DenOptix.
