Great American Restaurants is a leading multi-concept dining operation serving the area around Washington, DC, with about a dozen casual dining locations. Its concepts include Carlyle (American bistro), Coastal Flats (seafood), and Sweetwater Tavern (Old West-themed brew pub). Other brands include Artie's, Mike's American Grill, and Silverado; the company also runs the Best Buns Bread Co. bakery. Partners Randy Norton, Mike Ranney, and Jim Farley started Great American Restaurants in 1974.
