No need to choose between embryonic and adult stem cells -- Advanced Cell Technology (ACT) works with both to develop cellular therapies designed to regenerate human tissue. The company has developed three product platforms based on stem-cell technology. They are retinal pigment epithelial therapy (RPE) for the treatment of degenerative retinal disease; myoblast stem cell therapy to treat chronic heart failure and other heart problems; and the hemangioblast platform (HG) for the treatment of blood and cardiovascular diseases. Though the company is focused on bringing the clinical-stage technologies to market, it is also continuing to conduct research for other regenerative medicine treatments.
