Amarillo National Bancorp has a handle on banking activities in the Texas Panhandle. It is the holding company for Amarillo National Bank, which has about a dozen branches in its namesake town in the Texas Panhandle. Founded in 1892, the bank provides such services as deposit accounts, credit cards, asset management, and private banking. Business loans and commercial mortgages make up the largest portion of its loan portfolio, but Amarillo National also originates a significant amount of residential mortgages, consumer loans, and farm loans (it is one of the largest lenders to cattle ranches in Texas).
