Panasonic Electronic Devices makes electronic components, including capacitors, fuses, filters, inductors, optics and acoustics components, resistors, sensors, switches, tuners, and more. The company also makes speakers, sensors, and switches for the automotive market, and speakers, tuners, and remote controls for the consumer market. Matsushita Electronic Components changed its name to Panasonic Electronic Devices in 2005 to reflect its well-known brand. The company closed its UK subsidiary, which made auto speakers, in 2006, citing price declines due to competition; production was shifted to other facilities. Panasonic then closed a car audio plant in Brazil in early 2007.
