Pacifica Foundation operates the Pacifica Radio Network, which includes five listener-supported, community oriented radio stations: KPFA 94.1 FM in Berkeley, California; KPFK 90.7 FM in Los Angeles; KPFT 90.1 FM in Houston; WBAI 99.5 FM in New York City; and WPFW 89.3 FM in Washington, DC. Founded in 1949, Pacifica Radio is the nation's first listener-supported, community-based radio network. Pacifica also has more than 100 affiliates in 27 states. The network was founded in 1949 by Lew Hill and blazed the trail for listener-sponsored independent radio.
