The private equity firm seeks controlling stakes in middle-market companies in a range of industries, including broadcasting, chemicals, consumer products, financial services, health care, and manufacturing. An active investor that works with its portfolio companies to foment growth, the firm specializes in leveraged buyouts, restructurings, and turnaround situations. Since its founding in 1988, JLL Partners has managed private equity funds totaling some $4 billion in committed capital from institutional investors. It has stakes in more than a dozen firms.
