Freescale Semiconductor is a control freak. Make that microcontroller freak. The company, formerly the semiconductor part of Motorola, produces a range of chips that control functions in automobiles, computers, industrial equipment, wireless communications and networking gear, and consumer products. The company's global client roster has included such blue-chip companies as Alcatel-Lucent, Continental Automotive, DENSO, Huawei, Cisco Systems, Fujitsu, Nokia Siemens Networks, and Valeo. Freescale Semiconductor is a subsidiary of Freescale Semiconductor Holdings I, which went public in 2011.
