AuthenTec is good at fingering out who's using your electronic gear. The company designs biometric fingerprint sensor chips, a high-tech way to authenticate identity and to allow only authorized users to utilize the equipment. Electronics makers incorporate AuthenTec's TruePrint devices into a variety of goods, such as automotive subsystems, PCs, and wireless devices, with customers including Fujitsu (about 13% of sales), Fujitsu Siemens, Hewlett-Packard, Lenovo, Samsung, and Toshiba. The technology was originally developed within Harris Semiconductor, and AuthenTec was spun out of Harris Corporation. The company gets most of sales from the Asia/Pacific region.
