AMSEC allows the navy to run a tight ship. The company supplies naval architecture and marine engineering services to commercial companies and the US Navy. With more than 20 locations near domestic US naval and marine industrial bases, AMSEC's technical staff provides design, engineering, logistics, technical support, training, and maintenance services for virtually any shipboard system on a variety of ships, including aircraft carriers and submarines. AMSEC was founded in 1981 and was a joint venture between SAIC and Northrop Grumman Shipbuilding until 2007 when it was restructured -- its operations split between its two owners -- and it became a wholly-owned subsidiary of Northrop Grumman.
