The firm is a major provider of group retirement plan services to elementary and high schools, colleges, and hospitals. It provides annuities and life insurance to more than 25,000 client groups (representing some 2 million investors) throughout the US. VALIC is part AIG American General, the domestic life insurance operations of American International Group. AIG has announced that it will sell all of its domestic life insurance operations, including VALIC.
