Extreme metal label Relapse Records is home to a roster of prominent artists including The Dillinger Escape Plan, Mastodon, and High on Fire. Relapse's Release Entertainment offshoot imprint is home to ambient and experimental artists. The company also publishes music magazine Resound. Relapse Records was founded in 1990 by Matt Jacobson as a one-man operation based out of an Aurora, Colorado basement.
