United Healthcare Insurance is the underwriter of insurance provided by United Healthcare Services, a subsidiary of Minnetonka, Minnesota-based healthcare giant UnitedHealth Group. United Healthcare Insurance underwrites insurance plans to individuals and small to midsized employer groups across the country (except in New York State, where insurance is underwritten by United Healthcare Insurance Company of New York). United Healthcare Services manages HMO, PPO, and POS (point-of-service) plans, as well as various Medicare and Medicaid options, for more than 70 million medical members. Insurance products are distributed through direct sales and independent brokers.
