Pittsburgh Independent Auto Auction (formerly D-A Auto Auction) doesn't compete with off-price retailer Tuesday Morning. That's just when it does business. PIAA holds dealer-only auto auctions each Tuesday beginning at 10:30 a.m. at a seven-lane facility. More than 5,000 auto dealers are registered to attend to bid on previously-leased, repossessed, damaged or inoperable vehicles. The auction site has reconditioning facilities and a body and paint shop, and the company provides such auction-related services as condition reports, financing, security, and vehicle pickup and delivery. It also operates a fleet/leasing department. The family-owned firm adopted the more identifiable PIAA name in 2008.
