While its full name is Shands Teaching Hospital and Clinics, most folks call it Shands HealthCare. The healthcare network, affiliated with the University of Florida Health Science Center, is a provider of health care services to patients in north-central and northeast Florida. The company is made up of eight not-for-profit acute, community, and specialty hospitals, as well as more than 80 physician practices. The company also operates a home health care program and several outpatient rehabilitation centers. The Shands network has some 2,000 licensed beds and about 1,000 affiliated University of Florida doctors.
