Rogers Cable, a subsidiary of Rogers Communications, is Canada's top cable television operator. It has about 2.3 million residential and commercial basic cable subscribers located throughout the eastern portion of the country, including New Brunswick, Newfoundland, and Ontario, while rival Shaw Communications serves Western Canada. Rogers Cable also provides Internet access to about 1.6 million customers and it owns and operates Canada's second largest retail video chain, Rogers Video Stores. Additionally, through its Rogers Home Phone unit, the company provides home local and long distance telephone services over traditional networks and through voice-over IP computer telephony to about 1 million callers.
