Bent on providing superior less-than-truckload (LTL) service, Benton Express hauls general freight in the southeastern US. (LTL carriers combine freight from multiple shippers into a single truckload.) Benton Express operates a fleet of some 320 tractors and 770 trailers from a network of about 25 terminals in Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee. It offers service to Canada through a partnership with Midland Transport. The company was founded in 1934; the original business plan involved the delivery of movie film reels from Atlanta to South Georgia.
