Fidelity Capital, like most offspring, is good at spending its parent's money. The private equity firm, a unit of financial services megacompany FMR Corporation (better known as Fidelity Investments) identifies, invests in, and grows fledgling businesses on behalf of its parent, usually for the long haul. Fidelity Capital doesn't focus on a specific industry, but rather has a diverse portfolio of about ten companies. It also invests in real estate such as the World Trade Center Boston and oversees the Fidelity Charitable Gift Fund, which facilitates philanthropy on behalf of private investors.
