Life Fitness thinks life is better when you're fit. The company manufactures fitness equipment for the consumer and commercial markets under the Life Fitness, Life Fitness Sport, ParaBody, and Hammer Strength names. Products include strength systems, exercise bikes, treadmills, cross-trainers, and stair-climbers. Founded in 1977 as Lifecycle, the company distributes its products through about 130 dealers in more than 120 countries. Recreational products maker Brunswick Corporation purchased Life Fitness in 1997 from Mancuso & Co. Life Fitness purchased Hammer Strength (maker of plate-loaded equipment) later that year and ParaBody (home strength training equipment maker) in 1998.
