It provides a variety of academic, vocational, and social-skills training in rehabilitation-oriented private prisons. Its holistic education model offers programs to help inmates avoid substance abuse as they also boost their engagement in community service, find work, and increase their cognitive skills. As part of its services, MTC operates about two dozen correctional facilities in eight states, including Arizona, California, Florida, Idaho, Ohio, New Mexico, Mississippi, and Texas. The company is also a contractor for the US Department of Labor. Founded in 1981, MTC operates facilities that house some 25,000 inmates.
