Claim Jumper Restaurants owns and operates more than 40 casual dining restaurants in California and about a half dozen other states. The chain offers a menu heavy on meat and potatoes that also includes sandwiches, seafood, and a variety of appetizers. A few of its restaurant locations also offer catering services. In addition, the company licenses the Claim Jumper name to frozen food maker American Pie, which sells branded frozen dinners and desserts through about 3,000 grocery stores in a dozen states. Craig Nickoloff opened the first Claim Jumper restaurant in 1977. The company is controlled by private equity firm Leonard Green & Partners.
